Dunns Creek Estate

  • James Halliday lists Dunns Creek Estate in the 2007 book as a new vineyard and rates both the Barbera 2004 (87) and the Arneis (88) as a four-glass rating (out of a 5 glass maximum) which means that he recommends both wines as being above average quality, fault free and with a clear varietal expression.
  • The Barbera 2004 won a gold medal at the Alternative Varieties Wine Show in Mildura in November 2005 and has been praised in the press by three wine writers. Jane Faulkner in the Age who called it “…a stunner” and “… one of the highlights of the show” and “…very exciting”, Max Allen (Chief Judge at the show) in the Australian raved about the “…wonderfully juicy, berry fruity” wine while Tim White in the Financial Review gave it 91/100 while describing it as “… sweet, stewed black cherries and rhubarb crumble nose plus blacker, pruney stuff. Smells beautiful. Good weight in the mouth, with damsons and cherries and blackberry essence…”.
  • This wine also featured in the February 2006 ‘Gourmet Traveller’ when it was rated by Max Allen as a “Winner of Oz” and also featured in ‘Gourmet Traveller Wine” (Apr/May 2006) as one of the “100 Top New Releases” (91/100;****). Cellar up to 5 years. On initial opening it exhibits ripe sweet fruit with little tannin much like a good Australian merlot later softening to a pinot noir weight wine with good acid.
  • The Barbera 2005 won a bronze medal at the Cool Climate Wine Show at Red Hill and will repay cellaring for up to 7 years.
  • The Arneis was featured in ‘Gourmet Traveller Wine” (Apr/May 2006) as one of the “100 Top New Releases” (89/100;****). Cellar for 2 years or enjoy now.

A little bit about Grapescape Wines -

Try something new, something different, something boutique...

Something exclusive...

We are very pleased to be able to offer some wonderful boutique Australian wines.

Wines that you wouldn’t expect to find through major chains or commercially known outlets.

Did we hear you ask, “So, what is Grapescape Wines and why are you unique?”

Well, let’s answer your question by asking two of our own:

  • Ever enjoyed an amazing bottle of wine from a winery but struggled to find it again?
  • Ever wondered why it is only available from the cellar door or limited outlets?

                         “Yes!”“Yep.”“You betcha.”“Absolutely!”

                                                  We have too!

At best only 80% of Australian wines are readily available via traditional outlets. We are going to do our best to provide you access to the other 20%.

You will be able to purchase these great (but hard to find) wines in either a, “Buy Now” or “Auction” setting. We will also have a dedicated members area for you to learn about wine, record your own tasting notes, and keep up to date on all events that are wine within Australia.

We hope you enjoy these wineries as much as we have.

Cheers, The Grapescape Wines Team
